The career choices are no more restricted to arts, commerce and science. It has branched out in various directions.  Today, an individual is not scared to make off beat career choices like animation, film making, and hotel management amongst others. Photojournalism is one such career choice that has been prevailing since decades but recently it has become a popular option among many individuals, especially those falling in the age bracket of 24-30.
Photojournalism or photography journalism, as it is commonly referred, is a facet of journalism where one needs to take photos that go in with news. Previously the work was only restricted to obtaining still photographs but with onset of media boom, especially the electronic media, the role of the photojournalist has also expanded.  The photojournalism is different from other divisions of photography like wild life photography, documentary photography and nature photography. In photojournalism, you need to click photos relevant to the news and events, keeping in mind the objectives to present the relevant news in best possible way.  

The most important responsibility of the photojournalist is to click pictures related to the news. The pictures taken should be of high quality, clear and truthful images that converse a significant point to the readers. The other duties include developing the clicked pictures and then editing it for final presentation.

If you are looking forward to make your mark in the field of journalism, then photojournalism could be your forte. You will need to work in synch with the reporters and gather pertinent still and video footages that can be pertinent to the news.

Be it newspaper, magazines or websites, one can see a lot a visually appealing snaps that helps is explaining the event that took place. Hence you can understand how important you need to play once you get become a photojournalist. Imagine the media with photographers, how dull and difficult it will become to present news or any event.

You do not have to worry about the courses and learning materials you may need to master the art as there are plenty available. You can search online and can know more about the course details, fee structure and institutes. You can all read through many websites which has solid information on photojournalism to get an insight about the job.  

While doing your course you can also join professionals in this field and intern under them. This will provide you with on the job training thus providing you with better understanding of the subject. As a photojournalist you can easily find jobs in publication houses and also work a freelancer. The pay structure depends on one’s own credibility and hard work. If you know your job then there is no looking back.
